Located in a central position of Venice, the 3 star Hotel Città di Milano is close to St. Mark's Square in the heart of the historic sestiere di San Marco, well served by vaporetto ferries that stop at the nearby Riva degli Schiavoni.
The drawing room of the city is just around the corner from the hotel: St. Mark's Square, with its historic cafés, the tall campanile that dominates it and the Clocktower. The mercerie start from here, the old shopping artery of Venice where numerous shops and boutiques tempt you into designer shopping.
A four-minute stroll along the mercerie take you to Rialto where the picturesque, old marketplace and the famous bridge are located. If you walk in other directions, you will quickly reach the romantic Bridge of Sighs - passing in front of the splendid Doge's Palace - and the temple of music,Teatro La Fenice.
The Hotel Città di Milano is conveniently located for excursions from the Bacino di San Marco where, in addition to the gondola tours, ferries towards the Art Biennale gardens depart and towards the Venice Lido, home of the prestigious Venice Film Festival in September.
Leaving the beautiful Church of St. George on the left, the vaporetti make their way towards the Grand Canal, past the Punta della Dogana, where the Pinault Foundation is located, together with Palazzo Grassi, Ca 'Pesaro, the Correr Museum and the Guggenheim Foundation, one of the most important modern art exhibition centres in Venice.
Some tens of minutes by boat along the Grand Canal, between houses and historic buildings reflected in the water, reveal the uniqueness of Venice and take the hotel guests to the Santa Lucia train station and the Piazzale Roma car terminal.
How to reach us
By train | After arriving at the Venice "Saint Lucia" train station, head to the vaporetto stop and take line No 2 towards Rialto. Once you get off at Rialto, continue towards mercerie and campo San Zulian. If you get off at San Marco, walk under the Clocktower, then take the first turn right, the second to the left towards Calle degli Specchieri. At the end of the street turn left and you will find the hotel located just after the archway.
By plane | You can reach the hotel from "Marco Polo" International Airport of Venice, by taxi, bus No 5 or ATVO buses; when you arrive at Piazzale Roma, take the vaporetto (line 2) and follow the directions in section 'By train'. Alternatively, you can reach the hotel with a water taxi (journey time 25 minutes) or with the Alilaguna shuttle to San Marco (journey time 70 minutes). From here follow directions for Rialto.
By car | Exit the A4 motorway at the Venice - Mestre tollbooth and follow directions for Venice and the Piazzale Roma car terminal. Park your car in one of the parking garages and head to the vaporetto stops (line 2) which goes along the Grand Canal in the direction of San Marco, and stops at Rialto. From here, follow the directions in section "By train"
